Disney Escalates Legal Battle Against Dish Network Over Sling TV’s Mini Bundles
Disney (DIS) and ESPN have filed a lawsuit against Dish Network (DISH) in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, challenging Sling TV's newly introduced short-term subscription packages. The media giant alleges the offerings violate existing distribution agreements, which permit only monthly bundles.
Sling TV, owned by EchoStar's (SATS) Dish Network, launched the disputed passes—including a $4.99 day pass—without Disney's approval. The lawsuit seeks to exclude ESPN from these packages, citing contractual breaches. Dish Network dismissed the claims as "meritless," framing the passes as consumer-friendly innovations.
